skl1Wow. That is really cool. Have you been able to get an idea of how accurate it is (I know that's not the purpose of the gun or the exercise, just curious).

FjoldThat gun really tames the recoil of that Lott.

I only fired one group with the gun, using the 300gr Barnes TTSX bullet with 92 grains of TAC. Five went into about an 1-1/8" at a 100 yards. I figure that bullet should work alright in whatever we have here in Oklahoma.
I also tested the gun for reliability using a 550gr Woodleigh, 500gr DGX, 500gr Interlock, 500gr Interbond, 350gr Hornady Round Nose, and 325gr FTX. It cycles them all just fine with the same gas setting.

sambarman338I guess the muzzle brake makes it easier to shoot (if not stand beside) but I will be interested to know how well the scope lasts.
Keep us informed, Tony.

The scope may already be damaged. I fired the gun about another 50 rounds after shooting that one group, then went to confirm zero at 250 yards. I only fired a few shots at 250, but the bullets were flying wild and the tracking was off. Scope is/was an EOTech Vudu 1-6x.

sambarman338Thanks, Tony.
Other YouTubes show big scopes bending down at the objective two or three times each shot when used on big rifles. The spring-suspended erector tube inside the average modern scope would be shimmying like a Tahitian drum dancer's bippy. (Don't Google that, it will send you to the South Seas.)

Michael RobinsonTony, you might want to try a Leupold fixed 2.5x.
They are what the old-timers, not youngsters like me

, call hell for stout.
I have a few that I've been using on a .458 Lott, a .450 Rigby and a .500 A-Square for years with no problemos.

sambarman338Yes, Michael, they do have a good reputation and I keep one handy in case the little Nickel on my 9.3 ever fogs up.
Ray Atkinson is a particular fan but his favorite one was actually cobbled up by the Leupold repair shop (and probably had pre-'64 reticle movement).

lavacaRecoil won't be bad with 300 grain bullets, so scope should be fine. Neat concept. Unfortunately can't take semi-autos to Africa.

lavacaI generally shoot 500 grain bullets in my Lott. It wrecked the first scope I put on it, so now it wears a ghost ring.

viperidaeIf you are really serious about a .505 Gibbs or .585 Nyati while I would advise against it as it may be disastrous I have brass. PM me.

AR-10 barrel extension is plenty strong enough for a 505 Gibbs diameter cartridge, should work fine.
