That skull is over 30" and we just had a past client give us his skull to keep in camp and it measured 30 8/16"

The big ones are always impressive both on and off the bear

My 458 BSA wears an M8-3X Leupold in a set of rings that came from Mr. Phil Shoemaker..... Many Thanks Phil !
Its accurate with practically any cast or jacketed bullet up to and including the old Original Barnes 600 gr.
Now, they are a handful in an 8.5 lb. rifle..

I was always a 458 man till I went much bigger but it was my first Big Bore 40 years ago! Turtles..Nutria..Hogs..Deer Nad Trees all exploded to my 300gr Hollow points to my 500 grainers !
My question is since itnis apparent your work gun and taken more Bear than I can dream of...what's your preferred load and results in the field? Thanks now for your reply! T

That is a fantastic bear you have as well.
Most folks have no idea how large and impressive a true 10 footer is.

For a really close range stopper I have had the best luck, or at least have the most faith in, 500 gr bullets. I like the RN Hornady's and the 500 Swifts when playing cat and mouse with big guys like this one. We stalked each other for 20 very long minutes after the client had wounded him.
