use 400 grain bullets, and it's fully tolerable... my 17 year old, 165# shoots his off the bench, and it only weighs 8.25#

Good points all. This stemmed from a discussion at work with some fellas that expressed grave concern about shooting it from a tree. I should have used my common sense because none of them have a large bore rifle anyway. My stand is very stable anyway so there probably isn't any real concern that the recoil will push me off balance.

Use a safety harness, and you'll have nothing to worry about except staying warm.

Before deer season, go out in the woods, "climb" up 2-3 feet in a smaller tree and shoot from a couple of different angles/positions. If you don't fall out, you will probably be ok 20 feet up this fall.
