Might go for some of the old style 500 gr .458". If they were near the same 50 cent price as they use to be. Fine for practice at that price.

This is spinning of the wheels.....Hornady quit making the steel jacketed bullets because they could no longer get the copper clad steel sheet metal.

Apparantly woodleigh is still using it and maybe the mfr of this material is Australian and the cost of importing it from aussieworld is out of perspective.

Anyway, Hornady didn't develope a new solid because they like developing new bullets....there was a reason.....the stuff wasn't available to them!

BTW thery quit making steel solids about seven years ago!!!~

Hornady's solids are very heavy "brass" with encapsulated lead cores.

I have no clue if they'll change it but if they're listening, their 375 Ruger will need a better bullet. One may assume the 416 and 458 will follow if they bring out a new bullet.

400 Nitro mentioned that the 450-400 was going to have an old style steel jacketed solid. Heard other scuttlebut out of Grand Island residents to the same effect. It would be silly to make steel jacketed for only one diameter. My impression was that steel was coming back.

Mike:

That's what the point man on the .400 project said - specific to the .400. He didn't mention other calibers, and I neglected to ask. You're right though, surely they won't do it for just one caliber.
