...and that was just for my 1000yd BMG competetion this weekend! (nobody ever said this was cheap) I've got 100rds loaded with AAA 705gr semi-boreriders ($170), 3.25lbs of H50BMG Powder which is 228gr per round ($50), use of 100 cases for one fireing ($25), and last but not least 100 CCI #35 primers ($17). This is not even the most expensive ammo out on the range. Some competators are using better more expensive primers & powders (VV 20N29 & RWS/IMI) and some are even buying loaded match rounds at $5 a shot [Eek!] .

There is just something rewarding about watching the powder level drop a sizeable amount with each throw while I get 17 charges per hopper of powder [Big Grin] . It is enjoyable to watch the components come together as the brass gets neck sized and primed, each powder charge carefully weighed, and the bullet seated to sit .015" off the lands and then trued for concentricity inder .001" on a runout gauge.

I also loaded up some T-Rex rounds for the BMG shooters to try. The way I figure it, I'll let them each shoot it with full power loads before the match so their shoulders will be 'tenderized' [Razz] . I'll be in NE this weekend for the regional FCSA match in case anyone else will be there to shoot.

That's sneaky. Who could resist a chance to shoot a T-rex? I'm interested how many takers you get.

Just imagine if you lived in Australia it would have cost you double and some due to our piss poor dollar. [Big Grin]

I used to race karts, and when I factored the cost of an engine re-build, clutch parts, and tires, one could easily spend $250 on a race. This would consist of qualifying, and 2-3 five minute heat races.

Cost is relative, if you want to play, you gots to pay. Funny how married life and kids has curtailed my racing. [Frown]

BMG,

I went to the Hiram Maxim Machine Gun Shoot this weekend. Picked up a couple of 50 caliber rounds for a buck a piece, headstamped "IVI" and "91". The vendor had a pile of them, how is it possible for them to be that low cost?

What do you have for a 50 caliber rifle? How do you like it, how accurate is it?

I think I'm in love with the McMillan single shot bolt action, but it's way out of my league. [Roll Eyes]
