How does the CZ 550 compare to the Sako 75?

Now this is from memory:
CZ 550 is CRF; Sako 75 is PF.
CZ 550 holds 5 .375H&H rounds; Sako 75 holds 3.
CZ 550 is usually finished a little rougher; Sako is usually finished a little better.
CZ 550 uses no plastic/synthetic parts (that I know of); Sako 75 uses them in some models.
CZ 550 does not have key locks; Sako 75 does.
CZ 550 is not available in stainless steel; Sako 75 is.

I bought the stainless Sako and it is a shooter giving me sub 1moa groups. It was a tough decision the CZ550 just looks and feels Africa.The Sako was a better finished gun and needed no additional work. The CZ550 was a base which i would have spent a lot of money getting it to where i wanted it. Either way its a tough choice buy whats meets your needs best.

CZ's may have some issues but shooting well is rarely one of them..................

I HAD A CZ 550 375 FOR ABOUT A YEAR NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL VERY ACCURATE WITH ALL LOADS I HAVE TRIED FROM 235 - 300 GR ALL WITH IMR4064

Every Sako Ive had has been a shooter.

Just to set the record straight:-


The 75 has no plastic bits (except synthetic stock)

The 75 in 375 H&H mag takes 4 rounds.

The 75 in 375 H&H Hunter/ Delux models (both Woodstock/Molychrome) have optional open sights, and that goes for all calibers in these 2 models.

The keylock is now an option - not standard on the 75 although there is some old stock around with this feature fitted.

I have shot both my cz-550 in 375 and my friends sako 75 in 375 and find the cz has a fair bit less recoil.Mine has the americanstock,not sure how the hogback stocks are,.The cz is a bit heavier.My friends sako also has the most fantastic laminate stock I have ever seen!!I also prefer the trigger on the cz.His sako also has two crossbolts,where mine has just one,and his also has sights.

Thats because its about 2 lbs heavier than the Sako. Not neccessarily a bad thing though!

Yes I agree the weight as far as I am concerned is a good thing.

I my country, CZ-550 in non magnum models, have ashitt of plastic floorplate. I cannot understand why.

I saw one with a plastic floorplace. It was at Lock and Load gun store in Tyler Texas. It was a 7mm Remington mag. I think they put a stop that.

I had a 550 FS, 7x64, with a plastic follower. I exchanged it with CZUSA, but it took forever. The CZ shot OK (about moa), but the scope just couldn't get low enough for me so I sold it.

I have a model 70 stainless with a wooden stock, that had a plastic follower. I got a metal one from Brownell's. Can't do that anymore.
