Anyone seen one of the new 550 American Magnums? In laminated wood? What do you think? Anyone seen the new made in america CZ Model 70 look-alike? Don't know what I am talking about, go to CZ website.
Have used the older version of the CZ 550 - the Brno 602 in various calibers includind a 510 Wells Express for more than a decade , hunting everything up to and including elephant .
The make a really good custom rifle in most of the big calibers and are extremely reliable .
Best wishes .

Not quite like a Model 70, not yet! All this new model needs is a bolt mounted 3-position safety and only then people buy it like a Model 70.

Jim Wisner makes a very nice one as well for the CZ 550 but why not have one already on the rifle out of the factory box? By the way, does this SA 3-position safety have a gas flange like the 98? Please post a picture of it if possible! Thanks!

3 postion safties are available from one of Soth Africa's finest riflemakers - Danie Joubert - fineguns@lantic.net .

3 position safety's are available as an "extra" direct from the factory as is certain other customisation....whether that service filters it way to the USA via the importer is a different matter of course...

I ordered two CZ 550 Magnums for our SCI San Diego fund raiser and they both arrived in American Field configuration, one rifle is .416 Rigby and the other is .458 Lott.
The Lott was built as a .458 Win Mag and re-chambered, remarked and stocked over here with the American style stock with a Pachmayer pad. The .416R is still in the box, I have not had the chance to examine it yet.
The significance of the new M3 is it is the first CZ to appear in a left-hand rifle. It is also a short action, and only chambered in WSM cartridges so far. I expect the initial noise about it to be at the SHOT Show (opens tomorrow in Las Vegas).

What? A lefthand CZ? And they chambered it in a whizz-um? What chowderheads!

I think that there are some mistakes on their website. For the American it shows 4 in the box for the Rigby and 3 for the 458's. but on the regular safari mag lists 4 for the 458 and 3 for the rigby. ????
I like the fact that there is the option for better wood, I wish they would offer that on the classic one though, as I would go with that stock myself probably.
