Has anyone ever produced a single shot 8 bore along the lines of a H&R Topper? Shotgun, paradox, or fully rifled? Is there anywhere in the US that one can be used for hunting? Remington still makes 8 gauge shells for blasting slag out of incinerators. Thanks Jerry

I know the 8ga is illegal for waterfowl, not sure about small game (might be a state to state thing), and would be legal for deer (in MI anyway). The thing is, who would want to put up with that level of recoil (and cost/shot) for a short range deer gun?

A company called October Country used to make muzzleloading 8 and 4 bores. No idea if they still do. Good hunting!

Quote: Modern 10 ga loads eclipse traditional 8 gauge loads anyway, as saveral owners here will attest. I would agree unless a prospective buyer can find himsef components and a gun that can accomodate higher payloads, the 8 gauge is pretty much purely for the sake of saying you own one. Karl.
