Who can make a 8 gauge or bore sxs ? I know westly richards can but does anyone else ? H&H or purdey dont .Was thinkin could a 50 bmg bolt action be configured to fired 8 gauge/bore shells . Im not talking about a rifle either i mean smooth bore shotun .Also any one here have reloading data . smokeless or bp .Any 8 ga stories ? . What birds in africa or else could i use to hunt with a mighty 8 .With a 50 bmg action which i havnt seen one in person my thought is it would be to bulky even with the stock i got in ming . Im thinking 35-40" barrels . blued gloss laminated barrels also.

Go to precisioreloading.com and get Tom Armbrust's book, "4 and 8 Bore Shotguns and Loads" for shotshell data. book The Double Gun Journal has had some nice shotgun articles by Sherman Bell and a two part 8-bore story (1 about shotguns and 1 about rifles) by Ross Seyfried about 7-8 years back. I've got two 8 rifles and a shotgun. I put a few rounds through a rifle yesterday testing 1350gn pure lead bullets over 75gn of Blue Dot for potential use on an upcoming hunt and gotright at 1300fps. Ed Hubel above would seem to be THe MAN when it comes to making a modern big bore on another action. To specifically answer your question, I'd think a handi rifle or Marlin goose gun would be easier and cheaper than a 50bmg action, but Ed would know for sure. Bob DRSS "If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?" "PS. To add a bit of Pappasonian philosophy: this single barrel stuff is just a passing fad. Bolt actions and single shots will fade away as did disco, the hula hoop, and bell-bottomed pants. Doubles will rule the world!"
