Ruger is making their last run of 44 mag in the 77 bolt action, and I'm seeing it for 424 dollars in wood stock. Would you scope this thing or go open sights?

In my opinion (wich some say is questionable) this is a 100-125 yard gun. I would probly put a quality red dot or holagraphic sight on it. I have a Millett red dot on a early Ruger 44mag semi-auto carbine. Works great in the heavy brush. If you scope it go with a 1.5-5 power at most.

I follow Rule #62.
