Just got back from the range with my Winchester M70. Installed a new Leupold 1.75X6 scope and got it sighted in. Tried some of the Nosler 260gr Accubonds with IMR 4064 at 68.0, 68.5, 69.0 and 69.5 grains. (this barrel seems to like IMR 4064 a bit better than Reloader 15). Winchester brass, Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers. (Nosler manual lists 70.0grs with 260gr partition as maximun). Three shots touching at 50 yards and 1 1/4" at 100 yards with 69.0 grains. I'll shoot this load again in a few days when the weather clears up. Question is where does this bullet fit when hunting large soft game like elk, moose and kudu, wildebeast and eland? Has anyone used it and what where your results? Most recomendations are for the Swift and Barnes. Are there useful or more relegated to paper practice? My current practice load consists of the Hornady 300gr RN interlock with 67.0grs of IMR 4064. Cheap to load and shoots very well. It looks like the 260gr Accubond is also a very good shooting bullet. A practice load or does it have field applications?

Here's an old post of mine with data and some recovered bullet pics FYI. So far, I've been very impressed--its either an accubond or TSX anymore in all my rifles--due to price the accubond often wins out.

Thanks Snowcat. The information is helpful. The penetration and expansion look good and would be suitable for larger softbodied animals from the recovered example on that big whitetail. I am going to shoot them again as they seem very accurate. Appear to be very good on elk and moose and the large african plainsgame. I'll use the swift on buffalo. 2005 I used some of the first Barnes TSX on buffalo and large plainsgame I and my PH were not overly impressed with the expansion. Thought they were too hard. Talking with my PH in Reno he says the new ones work great. They must be heat treated or alloyed differently from that first batch I used. Still have not settlerd on the solid. Am trying the Barnes banded, A Square mono, and the Trophy Bonded sledgehammer.
