We have one on a LH CZ .375 H & H. The hood flies off on the 3rd shot. Is this a normal problem or should NECG hear about it?

I think that is by design, see usually if you've fired that many rounds you're in some trouble and they figure with stress and what not you'll need more light on that front sight. kidding though, I think it isn't supposed to do that. It needs to be better fitted. The hood can be bent inwards to grip the base better. And the notch in the hood can be filed so that it better fits the rod of the plunger. I have them on all of my big bores, from .375 to .416 to .458 to .500, and if properly fitted, they stay where they are supposed to be. Perhaps NECG ought to note that fitting may be required. But in my experience, said or not, that's generally true. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Use acraglass on it and the front sight or you might be in for a surprise one day and have that fly off too.

I've used two and the notch in the hood needed to be enlarged on both, otherwise the plunger does not retain the hood.

I have a few of these sights w/ hoods and only one I had trouble flying off was the solid one on a 9.3x62. As suggested, merely squeezed it a bit and no more problems. Others are the "window" type and they seem to be made of somewhat thicker material and have not flown off yet even on hard kickers as 375HH or 458Lott. Window versions supposedly let more light on front sight, but I was taught not to use the hood if hunting w/ irons for they acutally blocked some of the field of view. I see them as more a front sight blade/bead protetor when transporting the rifle, but that is just me.

Have you not learned yet that front sight covers are designed to be lost? Let the thing remained lost.
