HunterJim376 Steyr in Mauser actions -- mag box?
For all you guys who built .376 Steyr rifles using Mauser actions, what action did you use? What did you do to get a "proper" magazine box?
thanks...jim

Gringo CazadorJeffe, did I read right, your getting 5 down in a mex

SlingsterJeffe:
Would a Mex Mauser bolt face opened up to magnum base size be too sloppy for the .376 Steyr case?

jeffeossoBilly,
5 down!!
Eric,
remember, the mexican is a 98... and has a 98 bolt dia... just shorter.. and the steyr is .500, the 458 winmag i did on one is .530...

SlingsterJeffe:
The reason I asked is that I have a Mex Mauser in 6.5RM that I think would be put to better use as a .376 Steyr. The bolt face/extractor are already opened up to fit the belted magnum head. So my concern is that it might be more work to "shrink" the bolt face/extractor down a bit to .376 Steyr dimensions.

HunterJimJeffe,
Is your action a 1919 or 1936 small ring?
I am surprised that the 7X57 mag box lets the .376 Steyr cartridges "stack" properly.
thanks...

jeffeossoEric,
I think it would have to be bushed, or replaced, sorry... and the feedrails would be a concern???
Jim,

IMHO, it feeds better than 358 in the same action.

Bob MehaffeyMine is just like Jeffe's and gets the same five down.
