I havent still decided wether I should go for the Jeffery or the A2 for my swith barrel "for fun" rifle.

I I go for the 500 A2, how long is the freebore? Will it be possible to shoot 650 grains BMG surplus bullets without having to seat them very deep? How about 750 grains Hornady?

What about the twist for 650 / 750 grainers, will standard 500 Jeffery twist do?

Hi Thomas,
I don't know the exact specs on the 50 Peacekeeper chamber/throat, but I do know that it is nothing special.

SSK has a bunch of hot air about the mysterious special throat. The 50 Peacekeeper is just a .500 A-Square renamed and glorified, with some minor change to shoulder angle, neck length, throat, etc.

I did the same thing before the 50 Peacekeeper came out, and called it the .510 JAB. This is short for ".510/460 Weatherby Improved Jenkins And Berry."

My .510 JAB is just a .500 A-Square with a 30 degree shoulder, instead of 35 degrees, and the throating described above. Otherwise it is just like the .500 A-Square.

You can possibly find properly head stamped brass for the 500 A2.

You can stamp the barrel .510/460Wby and just use .460 Wby brass necked up and fireformed.

Just go with the .500 A-Square and get whatever throat you want.

The standard .500 A-Square throat is fine for just about anything.

The .50 Peacekeeper is nothing special. Nor is My .510 JAB. It is just a 500A2.
