I have been looking for another Brno action to turn into my custom gun ,but cant find one. This means I might be stuck with using my original action for the custom job ,leaving me without a big bore for a long time. To tide me over I have looked into getting a new CZ in 505 gibbs ,but they arent exported into Australia. How much are they to buy in U.S? Have they had good reviews and would they be pretty much ready to use for buffalo out of the box? If I was to import one from U.S ,I would want to miss the hunting season while I fiddling with any faults. What prices are they going for in U.S? Sympathy please ,I have champagne tastes and beer budget

$1850 USD is retail but there have been some reports of less than desirable feeding. After starting my 505 on a CZ 550 a year before they were offered, I've decdided to take Robgunbuilder's advice and send it to AHR for a single-stack magazine conversion. Flawless feeding for another $600-$700 but if you want a good 505 be prepared to spend a little more than for a 500A2. Verdict is out whether I get 2 down or 3 with my Wisner floorplate but I really don't care at this point, as long as the thing works absolutely right. CZ has said they would build a 550 Magnum which offers a lot more horsepower and at least 4 down with easy feeding. That might be an option. wow - more horsepower and four down, too bad its not a .510 (more common) - wonder what cz will charge for that ? Hear and forget. See and remember. Do and understand.

CR500, Am I reading your post correctly - that you want to build a .505 Gibbs on a Cz/BRNO action? I have been planning on doing just such a project and, if you need them, I have a brand new Clymer .505 Gibbs reamer and headspace guages. Just as soon as I have tracked down another 602 action, they will be available and you can borrow them, if you like. "White men with their ridiculous civilization lie far from me. Bwana Bob. I dont intend to build a 505 on a CZ550/ Brno 602 action ,I was intending to buy a complete CZ550 in 505 Gibbs which are available from the CZ dealers in U.S. If I can find any more Brno 602 actions with the pop up peep sight (I,m after 3 at the moment)I will turn them into 300 WBY,458 Lott, 600 OK. I was interested in the CZ550 in 505 Gibbs as a gun to use for some buffalo and scrub bull hunts next year ,then possibly sell it if I find any suitable 602 actions. Thanks for the offer of the 505 Reamer. I have 2 different 458 Lott reamers which are available on loan as well if you have any need for these. Sympathy please ,I have champagne tastes and beer budget

Curse you!!! I've been trying to resist building a .458 Lott as well. I already have too many big bores but can't seem to help myself. But truthfully, thankyou, I might just take you up on that offer if I can find another 602 action or two. I am not looking for actions with the pop-up aperture so if I come across any I will let you know - if you can let me know of any standard 602 actions. I like the popup apertures on smaller calibres (I have a 601 in .222 and a 600 in 7x57 with the popup apertures) but in the bigger calibres I like a nice parade of express sights and find that the aperture requires that the rear sight fold down which doesn't work all that well with the express designs I like. cr500 , Won't Olin import you a .505 if you pay up front ? Might pay to get your dealer to ask . The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. I doubt that they will import just one, even if it is paid for in advance. I pestered the Winchester reps for months and months to get them to import some Winchester 1895s in .405. Eventually, they relented and said that they would import them but only in lots of five rifles. Unfortunately, by the time they agreed to import them Winchester had dropped them out of their catalogue. (Yes, I know that they are available in takedown form, again, but I won't bother with Winchester Australia and I will buy direct from the US). The only way the Cz550s in .505 will be available is if there is enough interest for Winchester to realise that they should bring them in as part of their normal orders. So, everyone who is keen to get a Cz .505 needs to write to Winchester, and pester your local Winchester rep, until they finally wake up and realise that there is a market for them. Safari Kid. I might have to wait and see what I,m going to do. I found out a few days ago that my current 458 Lott has gone missing in the mail ,leaving me with out a decent big bore at all. 2 months ago a Krieger barrel of mine disappeared in the mail. Now ,my whole rifle sent regitered mail has disappeared in the system, one month after I sent it on a dealer to dealer mail tranfer after an interstate hunt. Do you have an idea how much you want for the 505 Gibbs you have? What was done to it ,do you have dies etc? I might have to go for something readily available due to my latest mail misshap, but I might also look into what it takes to import a rifle from U.S Sympathy please ,I have champagne tastes and beer budget
