Another woe of the USPS vs Alaska. I've recieved my 500 Jeffrey dies from CH4D, just got 2 boxes of 570 gr X bullets from Midsouth, but am still waiting for my 500 Jeffrey barreled action on the long? trip from Washington state, which has been over a week.

I could care less if the dies or bullets had been sidetracked, but would really like to see the barreled action.

How about the stock? It is no good to have the barreled action without a stock ready. [Big Grin] Anyhow, give us a report when you have a chance to shoot that thing. Thanks.

I have, or rather had, a beater stock that I will use temporarily. I say had, as my boys took to using it for a plaything, and I haven't been able to locate it. I have a bit of work to finalize the gun as well, first off is adding a second lug to the barrel. That will make it shootable in the short term. Then I need to make a magazine box, follower and work the rails to make it feed.

Paul,
You can have my beater enfield stock for whatever it costs to ship to you. It's CRAP, but you could drill it and load it with lead and not care.

or, www.gunstocks.com can make you one that could fit for like 50 to 100, and you can send that in as a pattern for your nicer gun

Paul H,

We're waiting on a package from the East coast as well, going on two weeks now.

Off the subject but do you know of a business in Anchorage that carries Vihtavuori powders. My wife and I will probably get up there this weekand I'd like to try some. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

Great Northern Guns and Mountain View sports carry VV. I'd recomend calling them first, and asking them to hold whatever powder you are interested in. The only VV powder I've tried is N550, rediculously exspensive at $60 for 2 pounds, but it's lasted several years.

If you need Reloader series powder, go out to Eagle River and visit Boondocks, $20.95/#, lowest price in the state as far as I know.

Drop me a line via PM, and maybe we can hook up this weekend.

It's here!

Was greated with a big box when I got home last night. As usual, Mr. Ricks did superb work. Now I have alot of work for myself to make it into a repeater. I did manage to fit a williams rear sight last night, and even located the beater stock. There will be almost no foreend after I get the massive barrel fit. Oh well, it's just for initial load work.

Hopefully I'll be able to pop a few off next week if I can find the time to get it sorted.
