Does any one know where I can buy some 500 A-Square. I am having one built, but the smith won,t build it unless I supply him some ammo to test it with. I will load some as soon as get the dies, but that is not good enough, needs it first. [Frown] [Mad] [Confused]

It would be cheaper to get some once fired brass (fireformed) from some of the memebers here and load them up yourself. If you gunsmith refuses to use it, then go somewhere else. Good luck.

Take 460 wby cases (Norma) and run them through a 500A2 die set. Seat some 570 gr .510 bullets, crimp em and give em to your smith. The 500A2 and 460 Wby both headspace off the belt so the shoulder difference won't matter. This should be more than good enough to teat proper feeding and extraction.-Rob

The gunsmith wants factory ammunition, so I found somone else to do the job. We had an agreement that I would not shoot the gun until he was able to go with me. I want to finish the stock so it will be easier to test fire. (you know straped to a truck tire or what ever) Do any of you have any sugestions as to where I can get a muzzle brake for a reasonable price. Thanks again for your time. [Smile]

What are you building this off? If it's a cz in 416, send it to pacnor, as them to barrel it, blue it, and mount the sites.

Do NOT waste your time with a gumschmidt that wont work with reloads for a wildcat. if you are going to use a wildcat (which it "really" is) then you'll have to do things differently than building a 270.

sorry, not feelign well today, and I think your gunsmith is being a hassle. he KNOWS all he has to do is order the barrel long, whack off a chunk, and could make a handy fireforming chamber.

Good thing you deceided not to go with this guy. He sounds like he really doesn't understand Big Bores and there are enough guys out there that say they do and don't. Find a smith that's built a 500 A2 before. Make sure you actually see it and that it feeds! Then Pay him a fair price for it!-Rob

I went to the A-Square site and tried their phone number, but no answer. One of their phone line has been disconected. I will have a smith in Kalispel MT build it for me, I have seen some other rifles they have built. (big bores and small they have been doing this for a long time)
The action is a 1917 Enfield, it will be more of a toy that a hunting rifle, single shot only. The enfield is all ready to have the barrel installed (I purchased the reamer and head space tools for the fist gunsmith because he did not have them, but they will be put to use by ther other gunsmith) Thanks for all of the advice, I am going to get back to sanding on a stock for a mauser now. You might also try Quality Cartridge. I seem to remember them saying that they would make some of the ammo for A-Square while they were down.

Give em a call.
