Just handled a CZ 375 with the American stock. I was at a gun show and did not ask to have the security tab removed so that I could work the action, but the gun handled beautifully and fits my face very well. The wood execution was fair -- cheesy checkering and not the best wood to metal fit, but for the price, it seemed to be a lot of rifle. Guy was asking just over $800 NIB. Tempting. Would one of these in this caliber still need bedding? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Just a heads up. The 375H&H American normally goes new in the box at gunbroker for $729. My dealer said $679 plus shipping. I think they are good for the money. I have small hands and like the feel of the M70 or Whitworth better. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Thanks guys. Called my regular gun guy and he said his cost is about $680, so I can get it cheaper from him with a small markup. PC: Have you had to do any tweaking with your big-bore CZ's? Bedding, feed rail cleanup, trigger work, etc.? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

All of the above... so plan on spending a few-hundred extra to get it in "working order."

My .375 just bedded it, my .458 win mag went in and got the lott treatment so I have rails etc. doen as well as bedding and two extra cross bolts. My .416 had a composite stock added and the c-clip attended to, and my 9.3 was bedded and c-clip done. My Hornet has had nothing done to it.

Bill, I took my CZ 375 straight from the dealer to the gunsmith to have it bedded. Had to take it back to have the action and safety smoothed. I would not hesitate to do it again, it is very, very nice to shoot and holds 1 to 1&1/2 MOA all day long. If I take my time off the bench it shoots better, but I try to practice from "field" positions after it's sighted in. I put a Leupold 1.5-5x20 on it and I wish I would have put a 2.5-8 or 3-9, it shoots very well at long distances but I have trouble seeing that far with the low magnification. Go buy one, you won't regret it! Joe

Yes I agree. You will like it. It will likely take a bit of tweaking to get it to perform to the best standards. I had mine bedded and restocked. The firing pin spring had to be replaced on my 416. It would not have been a good place to find out that I had a questionable spring if I was looking through the sights at Mbogo. Shoot it a bunch before going after DG. Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"
