has anyone had any experience with this gun it has a 28"
barrel. What do you think of this combination? I shoot several
handguns in this calibur and would like to see what the
454 can do in a longer barrel. How close to a 45/70 can I
come with the lighter bullets 300 gr to 400 gr? I like
revolver-rifle combo's to carry while hunting and this is
the only rifle that I know of in 454 Casull? Any thoughts
would be appriecated......Rod

I don't know anything about this rifle but I seen other rifles chambered for .454 Casull. There are TC Encores, Rugers #1 and lever actions . . .

I've seen TC's and know the Ruger #1 could handle it but leverguns are strictly off limits due to pressure considerations. I know a few have been built as prototypes or low pressure versions but no levergun can handle full power loads in the 454.

Yukon is correct, lever guns are pretty much off limits to the .454 Casull. The .454 operates at about 62,000 psi. out of range of most all lever actions. The only exception might be the Browning BLR, Winchester Model 88, and the like with rotating bolts, much like a bolt action. A lot of people feel that "if a revolver can handle it, so can a lever gun", WRONG! No gunsmith worth a damn would even attempt such a conversion. It would be very dangerous. If you want a .454 rifle, stick to the falling blocks and stay away from lever guns. Bill T.

About lever action : A was surprased too , only seen it on web. I think that this rifle was made from the ground by some gunsmith, but I lost URL. I don't belive to any lever gun for 60000 PSI cartridge, but this one looked nice . . .

Why there are no "revolver action" carbines ? I belive that 20" barrel and rifle stock on freedom arms revolver could be ultimate rifle, what do you think ?

About revolver/rifle combo . . what about lever gun in 45-70 or 450 marlin or 444 marlin and revolver in the same caliber (by Phillips and Rodgers, Magnum research or Gary Reeder etc.)

Regarding rifle/pistol combos...I've done some figuring on this setup...you would be better off with a Linebaugh caliber combination. You can get a Marlin to feed .500 Linebaugh pretty well to go with a 5 shot Ruger Bisley revolver in .500 Linebaugh...for that matter, get a levergun made up in 50 Alaskan and it will still feed the .500 Linebaugh in 1.4" or 1.6" reasonably well. The rifle cartridges in revolvers are really a novelty...not the strongest or most portable package either.

for what its worth..the Browning HighWall
is a Single Shot Falling Block Action,,,
not a lever action,,,and is strong,,very strong,,,,7mm STW strong with hot loads,,
and excellent accuracy,,,and the 28" barrel
is just made for the hot rounds,,,,as compared to the Ruger #1 I much prefer the Browning,,,,for what its worth,,,,,Roger 4
