Looks like I'm going to be the proud owner of a 375 Ruger Guide Gun courtesy of Mr. Head Trauma. Barnes does not list loads for their 250 gr TTSX bullet with this cartridge for some reason. So, any suggestions? I'm not looking for absolute max velocity. About 2700 fps, and highly accurate, is the goal.

I hope you can read the picture below: The load was 84.0 grains Reloder 17 Hornady brass 375 Ruger, Remington 9.5Magnum primers 100 yards, 3-shot group, 0.366 inches Chronographed at 2826 fps. That is not a max load and it was shot in a 20" barrel. It is my wife's "big bullet." I think that a person could hunt just about anything with this bullet and velocity. (Exceptions would be a solid for elephant and hippopotamus.) Her other bullet is a 200 grain GSC HV which is promoted by GSCustom as an all-around plains game bullet. Here Lady Tanzan shoots her 375 Ruger: And here are her first two shots with a light load 200grain GSC, 73 grains IMR 4166, 2815fps: +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

PS: The 375 Ruger above has been modified as follows: an axial 1/4" 4+"all-thread was epoxied into the wrist area of the stock by drilling 4.5" down through the wrist from the back of the tang area behind the rear mounting bolt. a very tiny piece of allthread (1x1/8"?) was epoxied into the little wood connection ahead of the trigger guard space and behind the magazine space. The area behind the main recoil lug was epoxied. (I don't remember if a 1.5?"x1/4" piece of allthread was included in the wood behind the recoil lug. Probably, since I tend to do that for our larger bore rifles.) I cracked two laminated stocks when building a 500 AccRel and I learned my lessons. OK, the 500 pushes with up to double the recoil foot-pounds as a 375, but why take chances on the lighter 375? A very little bit of epoxy was set in the flat place around the rear bolt screw and over the reinforcement allthread running down from the tang through the wrist. Of course, a bit of space (.04"?) was cut between the rear tang of the action and the stock around the rear of the tang. All of that is because the rifle needed to go to Tanzania where replacement of a stock is difficult. The Ruger Guide gun is probably good to go out of the box. It's your call. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

Thank you 416 Tarzan and 700 XCR for the info and experience on beefing up the Ruger stock. I'll look into some of those modifications. Seems like all I really need for the 375 Ruger is Reloader 17. That's nice for a change.

I use 84 gr H4350. I found RL17 to give best speeds but accuracy was not as good as with H4350. As always, work up. 375 Ruger- The NEW KING of the .375's!!
