Hi, I have some starting loads using H4350 from Geoff at Woodleigh. Anyone use these in their 375 Weatherby and have load data to share? If so, please reply or PM me.

Thanks!

Regards,

Chuck

I have only used them in the .375 H&H and I field tested them and the .416 450 gr. bullets for Geoff before they hit the market because I was instrmental in their development to a degree, at least the RN version..Geoff like the PP, so he offered both, and that was a great move. my testing showed my RN to be ideal for herd shooting and his PP had more penetration and I think they kill a bit better, probably due to penetration that leaves and exit hole most of the time, and I believe in two holes, lets out more blood..

In the 375 Wby with the additional velocity I would go with the PP, it should be a dandy and if not then just slow it down a couple of hundred FPS..

The 350 grs seem to kill like a .416 and the 450 gr. .416 kills about like my 458 Lott did, it appeared to me to up both guns at least one caliber, but thats not a scientific statement, only a personal opinnion..

Ray,

What twist is your 416 and will the 450gr Woodleighs stabilise in a 1:14 twist?

Cheers,

Michael.

Sorry I am not positive as I no longer own that particular rifle but believe it was 1x12.. My present .416 has a 20 inch Lothar Walthar barrel with a 1x12 twist. It shoots one inch at 100 yards with the 350 gr. bullets..I have found them to be super accurate, especilly the round nose bullets, but that is pretty common IMO..RN bullets tend to be very accurate.

Ray,

What velocities are you able to achieve with 400gr projectiles in that short 20inch tube?

From what I understand, the 416 Remington magnum has a high expansion ratio, about the same as the .308 Winchester, so you can still get good velocity even from a short barrel.

I'm planning on around a 24inch tube in mine. What twist would you recommend - I was thinking of going to a 1:12 or even a 1:10 twist. How does a fast twist like that work with the GS Custom FN's and HV's ?

Michael.

Kiwi,
I have had my best luck with the std 1x12..Keep in mind the 450 gr. .375 bullets are the same length as the 400 gr. bullets, the difference is in the ogive as they were designed with that in mind...Same with the 375 and 300 and 350 gr. bullets.

I am getting a bit over 2449 FPS with 82 grs. of RL-15 (10 shots chronographed taking out the high and low) however I shoot 78 grs. with solids and 79 grs. with softs in my 20 inch gun for a solid 2389 FPS ave., and awesome accuracy at 3/4" at 100 for 3 shots, and that's good to go IMO...I can stick one of those in a buffs eye, should the need arise at up to 50 yards for sure.
