Elk Ridge Stocks for my 416 Rigby
Was just reading another post (POSeur's)and came upon a link to Elk Ridge Stocks. Wow, what a price difference in some of the other stocks I've been looking at.
Has anybody purchased 1 of these stocks for a CZ550 in 416 Rigby?
If so, how much work is needed to complete it. Myself I am not too handy with wood but have a few friends who could finish it for me.
How do these stocks compare to the factory wood? My 416 does NOT have the humpback style of stock, but I still have a hard time achieving proper eye alignment with the scope ( Leu 1.5-5 in High Warne mounts), I realize the mounts are too high but think that by getting a different stock some of the problem should be resolved.

By the way, have been lurking for a while and have read quite a few posts regarding the 550 stocks splitting. According to my data I have fired 138 full power loads (110.0gr R22)in my gun and stock has stood up well.
Maybe I just got a good one, although the checkering looks like it was applied by a child.
Any posts will be appreciated and Thank you.

do yourself a favor and run a search on all of the forums here for Elk Ridge. You will find a heck of a lot more bad than good including my experience

Yukon,
unless you are set on a lam, which you should get from www.rifle-stocks.com (richards) I would strongly suggest www.gunstocks.com

This a FINISHED 602/550 stock

but you can get one as low are $100 for matchstick, and $200 is what I paid for my 500 jeffe stock

Yukon257,

About a month ago I took the stock from my CZ550 416 Rigby and cut it into about 15 pieces. It was a laminated Elk Ridge stock that cost me $50 more than they originally told me it would and it was 9 weeks later than they promised it. It was a piece of crap. I wouldn't take a free stock from them if it was offered now. You would do better most anywhere else--check on those sites Jeffe listed and good luck!

I have one of the ELK Ridge laminates on my 470MBOGO. My opinion jives with everyone elses. THEY are CRAP! It took 9 weeks longer to appear than promised and the inletting stank! Never again! I dislike laminates anyway.-Rob

Shit, I seem to be the one person who actually got a couple of rather nice stocks in a timely fashion. Having heard this kind of feedback I doubt I'll deal with them again.
