What is recomendet twist rate for a .500 Asquare for maximum 600grain bullets? And what twist should I get if I decide for the long troated version for 750grain Amax? Will this twist rate allso shoot 500grainers and up satisfactory? Im thinking about eider an Asquare or a Jeffery but I feel the Asquare will work better in the mag of my CZ550. Btw, does any of you know the asking price for RCBS dies in the above mentioned callibers in the US, on an European website they where quoted at 375 and 598 Euros, about 450 and 717 US Dollars. Seems rather a lot.... CH4D goes for 168 US or there abouts. Thanks for your comments!

Thomas, A-Square used a 1 in 10" twist for the 500 A-Square. Their loading manual reflects this. SSK uses the same 10" twist for their 50 Peacekeeper, really the same cartridge as the 500 A2. I used a 10" twist on my 500 A-Square/510 JAB rifles with complete satisfaction for bullets of 570 grains to 750 grains. The 50 BMG uses a 15" twist barrel most commonly. It makes sense to use a faster twist for the same weight bullet at slower velocity. It gives you the same RPM's or RPS for the bullet's flight. With the lighter hunting bullets, like the 570 to 600 grainers, the faster twist will give superior terminal performance, i.e., better penetration. Someone really jacked up the price of RCBS dies in Euro's, or is that inflation since I bought any last? They would be less than half that here. CH4D dies worked well for my 470 Mbogo, but the threads on one of the dies were poorly cut, which I have never encountered with RCBS. Most of the time the quality is good with either make, so get whatever you can get your hands on. RCBS usually asks about $200 US for the low-volume-of-production dies like the 500 A2 and all the Nitro Express dies, IIRC, thats what I have usually paid for them here in the USA. $214 for 470 NE, for example, and I think I paid the same for 500 A-Square dies from RCBS, a few years ago, then add on the shipping charges, etc. Do you have customs duties or high taxes added on?

Thanks RIP! I will look for a 1:10 twist then. I will probably use a Lothar Walthe barrel if I decide to go ahead with the project. In sweden there is 25% tax and aditionally some customs fees, perhaps about 1-2%. I will benefit from order them directly from US I guess, 200 * 1.25 = 250. All included my guess is about 300 US and this will be around 250 Euros. (Thanks Clinton for making the US Dollar cheaper...) Thanks again!
