Supply and demand. There's a resurgence in getting older rifles that worked even though the prices are way too high. Used to be 475Guy add about 2000 more posts

Some guy posts an over-priced Whitworth and the rest follow. If they sell they're not over-priced. One of them has a muzzle brake and they still want $1200. Good luck. Whitworth's are nice but not that nice. ------------------------------- Will / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne. Agreed, imo, they're $700-$850 rifles. Used to be 475Guy add about 2000 more posts

just run down to your local gunshop and have them order you a couple...they call them Remington 798s now, and they're identical except for no express sights (front or rear), piss poor finish on the metalwork, and a piece of plywood, poorly inletted, for a stock. They are overpriced, just like Pre-64 Model 70's, and they are not coming down anytime soon. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

Sur5er... I see they are for sale.. But i don't see them selling yet for that price. I think they will in another 5 years. IMHO Joshua 24:15 www.teamfaithfull.net / My granddaughter "Multitudes loose the sight of that which is, by setting their eyes on that which is not".

Also a lot people trying to sell Interarms Safari rifles as real Whitworths which they are not. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Best deal I could find on a Whitworth 375 H&H last year was $900 plus shipping and that was without the iron sights. Prices have just gone up - look for 416s or 458s on any of the gun auctions now and you will find very few less than $1200. "Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult."
