Had a VC DR made for me a few years back in 577NE.
Beautiful rifle, but the front trigger pull is just way too heavy, I just can't get used to it.
Looking for a gunsmith Recommendation to work on it to lighten the the front trigger pull?
Thanks

The best trigger smith in the USA is probably Dennis Potter in Wisconsin. He is skilled at double guns.

The problem is with the double gun design, with a light trigger up front its just damned easy to double, and with a 50 caliber that's a horrible experience. The larger the caliber the more likely to double...You can make a double trigger any weight your heart desires but don't get carried away..A "clean breaking" double trigger up to 10 lbs. isn't all that bad and the distance you shoot game with a 500 or 577 is rock tossing distance. As I recall my .470 broke at 7.5 lbs..It did double on me once, Id rather take a solid hit form Joe Louis..The doubling is causes more, in fact, 99.9% of the time by recoil than by mechanical problems, your finger slips back onto the rear trigger...One reason Ive always shot the back trigger first and the front trigger next...Most double rifles experts recommend this, but many in the past on AR have shot the front trigger first as that how the gun was regulated, well that's a old wives tale, both ways shoot the same zero in every double Ive owned..Searcy seys its bunk you can do it either way..He should know he shoots more doubles in a day that most shoot in a lifetime. He shoots the rear trigger first. This would be even more important as the trigger pull gets lighter..

I would ask Ken Buch at Kebco (US Importer for Verney Carron) for his advice. I'm sure he's run into this question before.
