Folks my Montana 1999 PH action has dovetails which will fit two front cz 550 rings and I notice mine is also drilled and tapped for scope bases. Which bases are meant to fit ? Rem 700 or m70 ?

Also it dit not come with screws to fill in the holes If I don't use bases, was it meant too ?

One person suggests rounding off the bridges and filling screw holes (as it will be a big bore with irons no scope needed on a .585)stating it will be more tasteful. What are people's opinion on this ?

It will take any flat picatinny style base, two-piece or one-piece of sufficient length, custom drilled to fit your holes.
The base attachment area of action is not rounded like the M70 or M700.

Mine was not drilled. If yours was, it will probably be a standard filler screw, 8x40 instead of 6x48, I hope.

Put some filler screws in the holes and don't worry about it.
What is wrong with a nice, flat sighting plane to look at your iron sights over?
You may want to scope it some day, a red dot Burris Sure Fire on the front receiver would be interesting on a .585 for the elderly.
That will take only one little Weaver-style flat base for attachment, one piece of the two-piece set.

I am thinking I can get two CZ rings on the front integral base, and one on the rear.
30mm rings and a MONSTER SCOPE.
Torquing the main mounting bolts of the rings to 65 inch-pounds might keep the scope pointing in the direction I want the bullets to go.

Thankyou RIP I will just put some nice filler screws in that sit exactly flush to leave the option of adding a rail etc. if ever required. It will look ifne. I wonder why mine was drilled...would have rather it had not been as one can already use cz rings on it anyway. But with filler screws in it will be fine as you say.

Considering the fact that the milled slots for the CZ rings don't extend all the way forward, you should have no problem with the scope moving. The rings will be stabilized by the bases. I don't understand the need for a MONSTER scope. All a large scope does is increse the stress on the rings.

Gee, after advocating 6.5-ounce Leupold Ultralight scopes on hard kickers all my life,
can't I use a MONSTER SCOPE weighing over 1 pound on such a gentle rifle,
just this once? rotflmo

xausa: You are taking me too seriously. Wink

Now seriously: I thank you for pronouncing the CZ rings on the MRC PH "OK." tu2
