I am a month away from Tanzania and I have finally decided upon a antelope load, 260Partiton powered by RL15. Problem: my 300gr Hornaday soft point hits 8" right of zero for the 260Par. Suggestions?

I suggest dropping the 260 gr. load altogether.

Personally, I'd use the 300 gr. load for everything, and I'd also develop a 300 gr. solid load that hits in the same place as the softpoints.

Another alternative is to work up a load around the Winchester 270 gr. Fail-Safe bullet, which penetrates as deeply or more so than most 300 gr. soft-points. I've shot completely through grizzly from end-to-end with this projectile, and it's incredible. Loaded to 2700 fps. or better, and you've got one of the best-balanced, most effective all-around .375 H&H loads in existence.

As above stick to 300 gn SP for antelope I downloaded mine to 2300 fps with 72.9gns R19.If you look at my post on 300gn on antelope in the African hunting section you can see its powerful enough at that velocity out to 200 yds

Use 270 gr Failsafe factory loads for everything with a handful of 300 gr solids for 'self defence' - I've found the FSs expand reliably for impala from 80yds to 230 yds from my 22' barrel. Charlie - just my 2c worth.

If you must have a lighter bullet, try some of the Barnes 270 XLC's. They usually shoot pretty close to the 300 grainers. I think you would be beter served by taking just the 300 grain loads, simplifies logistics, only one trajectory to remember, not really much difference over practical hunting ranges. Let us know how things turn out.

O'Connor once said 375 were famous for shooting everything to the same POI...That was one of his only mistakes, damn few will do that...

I have one that will, but I owned about 15 or so prior to this one that would not come close.

The difference in trajectory between a 260 gr. and a 300 gr., contrary to some reports is very little at 300 and 400 yards, I have tested them and it was so close that I couldn't tell much difference, if any...

I use Northfork 285 gr. softs and Northfork Cup Points and solids in my gun, it puts them all in the same POI 2 inches high at 100, and to my amazment it puts those 350 gr. Woodleigh softs and solids an inch lower for an inch high 100 yards....This is a grand set up as really love those big RN and PP 350 gr. 375s, It seems to put the 375 in the 416 and 404 class of killing power, at least on Buffalo and larger plainsgame.

I guess i have been very lucky on this matter. I have gone through three .375's and all will group 270's and 300's within in 2" of each other at 100 yds. The 7x57 also exhibits this trait when comparing 150's and 175's, the heavier ones will always hit lower than the lighter ones as expected. I dont know if todays hammer forged barrels are the reason many are having problems grouping two weights versus rifles made 50 or so years ago that have "cut "rifeling. I have a flanged double that will throw 300's just fine, but when loaded with 350's ( my favorite) it wont hit a 6"x6" target at 50 yds. It always shoots them high and right, i guess its one of lifes mysterys that keep us scratching our heads. Charlie

My 375 H&H used to shoot the 270gr bullet and the 300gr bullet to the same place on the target at 100 yds. I have resighted my 270 gr bullets to 200yds. So now the 270gr bullets all fit on a 2.5" target at 200yds and the 300 gr bullets go on a target at 150yds and are all over a 3" target. The 270gr bullets are about 2" high at 100yds and the 300 gr bullets are about 6" high at 100yds.
