Rusty, congrats on the Whitworth. I've had to do a bit of tweaking with mine to get it feeding right. It needed an extra strong follower spring from Brownells to keep rounds 1 & 3 from tipping down and jamming. I have a 375 length follower that needs to be milled down a hair to fit. I discovered that the bolt had a speedlock conversion which kept a wisner 2 position safety from working. I'm going to need to ship that back to Wisner to swap for a 3 position when he gets another batch built. That's meant I haven't been able to put in the new Timney, so it'll go to Africa with the original trigger and safety. I've chosen 70 gr of RL 15 and Nosler 260 accubonds for Namibia. I also have a reduced load, same bullet, with xmp 5744 for Zack to shoot at about 2100 fps. Amazingly, it shoots in the same group at 100 yds as the full power loads. My last time to the range, it put a mixed group of 3 into about 3/4". I think you'll like it a lot, but you may have to do a little fiddling with it. Mine scratches cases, but Hill Country Rifles said they'd need to pull the barrel to fix that, so it'll have to stay as is for now. The scratches are cosmetic only. Bob | ||
