Vinser have not made any in some months, out of stock, and do not plan to make them anymore.... Have not heard from the Norwegian gunmaker yet.

You might want to try Ed LaPour at +1 360 479 4966. He makes safeties, but I don't know about the 602. However, he will probably know of some one who does make them if he has none. He has been very helpful for me in the past.

I heard back from the Norwegian gunsmith, about $500 for a M70 safety installed..... I find that expensive! Will try and call your guy when I get to the US in 10 days Mark. I got a tip from Pete, and have mailed CZ-USA and asked if I can have an aftermarket CZ 3 position safety installed, but it does not look promising. Anybody else out here have a pointer?

Go to the following link:

http://www.hunting-rifles.com/S550DGR.htm

This outfit builds custom rifles on CZ-550 actions.

I think the Brno 602 is the same action as the CS-550 magnum action except for the difference in bolt safety shrouds.

According to their website, AHR offers a 3-position Winchester type safety shroud as an option. Perhaps it will fit.

And I think Wisner makes it. At least, that's who I turned Ed Plummer towards to get it done.

I just received an e-mail from Jim Wisner on this topic. He has sold all of his Brno safeties.
He does not plan on making any more.

The safety catch on my BRNO 602 operates backwards, ready to fire when pushed backwards.... go figure.... I know that it is possible to replace it with a M 70 safety, but I have not been able to locate a dealer. Where would I get a good price? I am going to the US to hunt Whitetail (yeeeahhh!) in a few weeks, and could have it sendt to the girl I am visiting. Also, where would I look for a second hand McMillan stock to fit my 458? I have placed an ad in the classifieds in this forum, anywhere else I should look?
Thanks

Jim Wisner was the only source I know of for the Mod. 70 type safety for the 602 and I understand he has stopped making them.

I got my M70 safety unit from Brownell's catalog, but this was about 10 years ago. I don't know who made the unit. My local gunsmith installed it.

Jim Wisner. He recently produced a run of a hundred or so. He did my Brno 601 two month ago.

If you really are from Norway then try Ragnar Hansen and son at Vestfossen. He can help you. I know he makes M-70 safeties himself..
