I was thinking about picking up some 380 grain North Fork bullets for my CZ 404 Jeffery. However, the North Fork web site contains the following caveat: "CAUTION. SLUG YOUR BARREL! This bullet has a diameter of .4230. DO NOT FIRE THIS BULLET IN ANY BORE THAT SLUGS LESS THAN .4220. European bores can run from .419 to .421. For Euro bores, you would be better off with a bullet that has a full lead core that will swage down to .419 without excessive pressures IF the cartridge is loaded to original factory ballistics of 2100 to 2200fps." I was wondering, has anyone used the North Fork bullets in their CZ 404 or slugged the bore to see if the bore size in correct? I'm not really part of the 404 clan yet (mine is still in progress) but I'm pretty sure this warning applies to the older vintage 404's, not the new CZ's. Caleb

Were it not the Vickers barrels that went .418"?

Thats easy slug the bore, don't ask someone that has no clue what your barrel mics! and don't trust the factory guys...its easy to get a bore slugged by any gunsmith and shouldn't cost more that $25.00 and that would be excessive. I'm sure your OK, but why risk it. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Ray, I don't know how to slug the bore myself. I am sure my local guy could do it but he is so busy, I have to even bother him with it. I guess I will just stick with the 400 grain Woodleighs I have been shooting. They are very accurate and I have I am only running them at 2262 fps so they should hold together perfectly. I did want to try the North Forks though. Dave Have you recovered any bullets fired though your 404. If so measure the base of the bullet. Also look at the base of the bullet. Is there a large amount of extrusion where the rifling lands leave the base? DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
