Magazine release spring trouble with Ruger M77
My brother has left in my care his .458 Ruger M77 tang safety. It has a problem that I've posted about before, when fired the floor plate pops open, I was told to get a stronger spring as one of the fixes which is what I'd like to do.
However I can't find a spring anywhere locally. I've tried Auto parts stores and anyplace else that seems like it may have a spring even the dreaded Lowes and Homo Depot but no luck.
So I need a little help with this, where can I find one?

You have two choices, contact Ruger, ( http://www.ruger-firearms.com/...s/PS-Address-NH.html ), part # D-32 ( http://www.ruger-firearms.com/...PartsBooklets/E5.pdf)
and tell them of your problem. They are very responsive and the replacement part probably won't even cost you the shipping.

Two, I've got some pre-wound spring stock, if you can send me the diameter and lentgh of the spring, Ill send you a couple of different weight replacements which may or may not work depending on the srength of my springs.

You should talk to a gunsmith. I had same problem with a Weatherby. It was a simple fix. The front screw had to be tighter than the rear screw. Not sure if the same with a Ruger but worth a look.

Midway has those springs for the magazines. I saw them in their big catolog a while back.

brownelss has it, as well. You can send me yours, and I'll hack off a piece of springstock to match it for you

Thanks for the links Masterifleman.
I tried calling Ruger today (couple minutes ago) and they were closed I'll have to try them in the morning.

Jeffe do I need a longer spring or a stronger spring of the same size?

Thanks everybody!

probably the original has lost some umphh .. so, same length, same diameterl, same wire thickness should give original results.. but i'd send you one original and 1 with an extra coil
