Anyone notice Midway's shipping has changed???

My last 4 orders went by slow boat to China...ALL of them took 15-17 days and went by package USPS mail rather than UPS. I just ordered two more item 0m 3/2 and the expected receipt date is 3/16 and it takes an additional 1-2 days because I live in the boonies.

They also played "bait and switch" with the 270 RN gr, 375 cal blems...doubling the price from the last listing AND CHANGED THE NOMENCLATURE online AND in my accounts page.

I sent them back and got the usual boilerplate double talk when I called.

Is this just happening to me or what????? Confused shocker old

Write to Larry Potterfield. He can fix it if it's really a problem. I order far enough ahead that delivery time is never an issue for me. I would be glad it went USPS because I will not use UPS.

I'm curious as to what your problem is with UPS. Where I live in Ohio, my UPS deliveries have been excellent. FEDEX is another matter; stuff left outdoors when there is a 50 foot covered porch to leave it on, etc.

I've noticed the same thing. I much prefer UPS. When it was UPS I could order on Tuesday and have it by Friday. Now with uses it 7 or 8 days.

I think Fedex hires the least intelligent people for drivers. When I get a Fedex delivery, the same guy makes the same address mistake over and over. When I challenge him on it, he swears he didn't do it. The idiot left a kid's wagon by my security gate 200 yards from my house right by the road in a blinding snowstorm.

UPS has a contract with USPS. Look at your shipping label it will say UPS SUREPOST then have USPS to deliver, they are sent Parcel Post. That equals it will get there when it does.....S L O W....

If you up grade your shipping, higher cost it will get there faster. Save money and wait or pay for speed.

Nitro Express about as fast as a old nitro express cartridge. Slow but gets there.

I've actually had good results with Midway but my orders lately have been ammo, which is delivered by UPS. However, the charges were quite reasonable IMO.

The trouble lies with items that offer "Free Shipping", the fine print says it won't even ship for 4 days and coupled with their "Mail Innovations" you are looking at well over a week from Midway to Pennsylvania.

I called and complained last year to Midway to Never, Ever, ship via UPS Basic to me ever again. It sits around a day or two at each change of hands.

I don't know why more vendors don't use Flat Rate Priority Mail??? Must be the profit margin as the rest of the benefits seems a no brainer

The manager of the Columbus hub last time I used it, insisted on opening and 'checking' the packing on a long gun being shipped. Then it was necessary to repack it which involved going to buy the necessary materials as it is a 60 mile round trip from where I live. The fact that he voiced complaints about 'having to ship guns anyway' gave me a permanent bad attitude on doing any business with UPS. I do not ship with them, nor do I get shipments from anyone who insists using them. I also tell my customers that I do not want to use them to fill orders from my employer as I do not trust that the product will get there undamaged. As, I write the orders, I can generally specify the carrier as I like.
The manager also could not see how my 1886 Winchester (50-110) made before 1900 could actually be that valuable that I wanted a high Insurance value on it and wanted to argue about it.
Been this way for about 17 years now.

I contacted Midway about this a while back. I also live in the boonies and if the item will not fit in my mailbox, the letter carrier leaves a note and I have to travel into town to pick it up at the PO.
It is the cheapest way to ship but you can specify UPS only and it will not get hung up with the USPS. Interestingly about half the packages that are set up this way are delivered to me by UPS because it is easier for them to deliver to me than the PO.
Never had a problem shipping anything including firearms via UPS. Is this something new?

It is very hard for a private individual to ship a gun UPS. I must travel 71 miles to the nearest UPS hub to ship a gun; local UPS outlets can not ship guns either. You can arrange a "one time" home pickup to ship a gun and it will set you back about $90 on top of the regular charges unless my feeble mind does not remember correctly.

I ship USPS Priority Mail, it is hassle free as I am rural and the workers are all good gun people.

Reign in...I DIDN'T say I had any problems with Midway(other that what I mentioned), USPS or UPS...I just was wondering if/why the usual 8-9 day shipping time I was getting suddenly turned into twice that long.

As far as FEDEX vs UPS, I don't see any difference here in my area, I've used both...high driver turnover seems like, new face monthly. I've seen/heard the driver complaints against the companies...I wouldn't work for ANY of those concerns, and they ALL leave the packages on my door step.

The packaging has become a bit lax/poor...
bullets and heavier items coming in bubble packing and the items container boxes squashed or busted open. The Shilen barrel tube had the end broken and NO end padding so the barrel could slide which probably added to the breakage...no damage that I could see, tho', during the contouring/chambering/crowning process.

I understand about the UPS/USPS marriage, that has been going on for a while now and it never caused a time delay until the last few orders.

This may have been going on for longer and I just happened to notice it. I get 2-4 orders a week from Midway, Midsouth, Graf & Sons, Cabela's, etc and the last several orders were for the 375 JD I'm finishing and those pieces and parts were specifically for that project so maybe I was a bit antsy...so I went back and checked my orders for the past several months and found the shipping time doubling...

Just wondering if this was happening all over.

Thanks

I never have a problem with Midway as I will never buy from them. You might try bullets.com. I think shipping problems are regional and not necessarily one or the other. My UPS, Fedex, and postal person will put it on the porch. We are rural and about a third mile off the road. If it doesn't fit the mailbox, it is driven to my house.

I would think the weather this winter is not helping matters.

SOMETHING has changed in Midway's shipping...could be the weather.

Before I would get an email of the order receipt and usually later the same day an email the order has shipped...7-8 days later it would arrive.

I started to order 2 boxes/50 Speer 235 gr, 375 cal bullets yesterday...the order date was 3/8 and the shipping date was 3/12, 4 days later for standard, cheapest shipping which I always use...$9.09 shipping and delivery was 3/24...for an additional $3.00 UPS charge the delivery was 3/18. That's still 10-12 days in transit.

Looks like the scam/hustle for extra shipping charges has arrived at Midway.

I'll start using Graf's again...their prices are comparable or less than Midway's and the shipping is always the same and I get the orders in 7-9 days.

Anyway...things change and I still keep getting older. shocker Frowner lol

Why did you stop using Graf's?

I didn't...I always check there first...but they've been out of the "stuff" I want/need for quite a while now, so I go to Midway or Midsouth, sometimes Cabela's I checked Graf's for the 235 gr, 375 Speer's and they were out, before I checked Midway.

My main problem is I'm on dial-up so it takes forever to get things done online and I run out of patients usually, or have to drive 20 miles to a library for their Wi-Fi.

Maybe it's temporary wintertime mess...who knows...just something to keep in mind.
