As stated in another post I played with a CZ 375 today at the gun shop. It was OK, I guess I could live with it, but it didn't yell "buy me". The stock felt sorta big and chucky, and I've got pretty good size hands. Has anyone replaced the factory stock with a McMillan CZ Express stock? Is it any better? The grip area of the factory stock just seemed a bit big to me.

Mark, I agree with you on the American. The Safari Magnum is another story. I felt so good I bought one. I mounted a spare 3 X 9 Leupold using B Square QD mounts.

The factory target really sucked, 3" at 50 meters. I glassed the stock using suggestions from other members, free floated the barrel, loaded some light 235 grain Speers with Varget, and was very pleased with the 1" groups.

Even after 40 rounds, I found it to be a comfortable shooter. My dealer had two each American and Safari Magnums in stock, I found the Safari Magnum to be better in fit and finish and like I stated, seemed to fit me much better.

Ditto on the Safari mag. I'm not all that big (6' 230lbs), but most rifles I've owned feel short. When my Safari Mag came in it was the best fitting rifle I've owned. I can honestly walk into the gun room, take it out of the cabinet, look at something on the wall, close my eyes, pull up into shooting position and when I open my eyes the sights are almost aligned and on top of the object. The grip area is larger than saw a off the shelve deer rifle but it doesn't feel bulky to me, more of a reassuring heft.
It also had the best fit, finish, and the prettiest wood i've seen on a factory grade production gun. When friends and family see it they figure I spent $2,000 - $3,000 on it instead of $798.

I'm thinkng Wink had a picture of one posted a week or so ago but I can't remember which thread it was on. Good looking outfit fit for a "plastic" stock though Wink.

I am soon to get hold of an American in .416 Rigby and I tried to get a hogsback as I have 3 other cz's wearing the hogsback stocks and find them fine.

I have heard the Americans are very clubby.

I've only played with the one but I would have to agree.

the American is way too thick. I changed out mine for a hog back. Much nicer, so nice if fact I wound up buying 2 extra Hogback stocks just in case.

What's the difference between the American stock and the Safari Magnum?

I just picked up a very slightly used one in 416 Rigby. It has the CZ factory mounts and a Zeiss 1.5-5 on it.

The owner had a neoprene stock gadget that puts a higher comb on the rifle, as he kept getting slapped (which may be why I think I ended up with the rifle). I haven't shot it yet, but I think the same thing will happen to me without it. I'll likely look for some lower rings, if I can find any.

If I was to replace the stock, I might look to a higher comb, or a Monte Carlo, but then that doesn't help much if you want to use a detachable scope mount and the iron sights.
