I was able to find a Rem 720 once as a kind soul had posted here that it was available at gunsamerica. Well, this isn't a 720 but I thought it might be of interest to someone here. It's an Eddystone which isn't necessarily the most desirable 1917 name but it's currently configured for 450 Watts which you don't see everyday. So far it's at $297 with two bids and 3+ days remaining.

it might be worth it for parts, it looks like they may have changed or maybe its just that they left off the factory base, to the Winchester pre-64 safari sight. plus, the only synthetic I know of for the Enfields is the MPI and they ain't cheap either. Hmmm..... at the price it is at, depending on the barrel, it might be a good parts gun if a person didn't want an eddystone.

Red,
i bought an mpi for 145 from brownels, before they dropped the line... and it went RIGHT back....

looks a tad light for serious shooting, btw...

but, for that price, it certainly would give a fella abig in

I have a slightly modified 1917 ( I think its a REM ) waiting for me to start a 458 Lott project. For the money, this rifle may well be the ticket...

The seller says to use 98 grains of IMR4230 with a 500 grain bullet, which is a solid 10-12 grains above max.

It sounds like he's getting his data from an old COTW.

I don't think it is physically possible to fit that much powder in the case. I tried VV N-550, which is a dense powder in the Lott, but 92 grains was all I could under a 500 gr hornady sp, and it was a heavily compressed charge. Even with the .050" longer Watt's case, I'd venture to say that 98 gr would probably fill the case nearly to it's mouth.
