For that little walk, it would be a simple thing for me, just make mine a Westley Richards in 318 and a pouch full of 250 gr Softs and Solids and leave it at that. Me a tracker and two porters could not carry all the crap we would think we would need, besides I would have to collect some sort of buck every other day just to keep every one fed. Besides ammo, I would think a good bit of money, like pounds in sterling or gold coins or even diamonds. We are after all talking of a walk that would last a few years here. Ray, I think just two porters is a little on the short side, lets face it in the old days a trip like that would have several hundred porters trackers cooks, wagons and all sorts of stuff, not to mention the lords liquor wagon. I don't think that two porters me and a tracker could carry enough to do the trip. Of course if you were along, then maybe it would work, but I don't think Ray you would want to take the pay cut or call me Bawana.

OK I'll play

My Personal carry gun would be .375 H&H Build by Holland & Holland
I would furthermore bring a .275 Rigby by Rigby for plaines game.
A 300 H&H by Holland & Holland would also be included. It was the new fast round in 1925. and a modern man would bring one.
BIG BORES I would have a .500/465 Nitro Express build by Holland & Holland Royal Naturally
And a .600 Nitro Express by Jeffery for elephant and rhino

Cheers,

Andr

Well, assumin' that I don't have t'cash in the family estates, don'tcherknow, 'd probably be sorely tempted t'pack up a 3-gun batt'ry by Westley Richards. For gen'ral huntin' there's little t'compare with the old .318 Rimless Nitro Express. Heavier beasts could be neatly grassed by the .425 and 'd have 'em both built up on genuine Oberndorf actions. This might be a bit annoyin' t'WR, what?, but since I pay my tailor and suchlike, they'd do what I told 'em. O' course, one does have t'mind that things do go south. Fer that possibil'ty, I'd want a droplock .500 best grade double. That oughter do it, along with a good double 12 bore t'bring down the occasional guineafowl breakfast.

Custom Springfield 30-06, Holland & Holland 375 and a Cogsworth & Harrison 404. Makes me wonder why they bothered to invent most of the calibers since then.
