Am working up loads for my M70 375 H&H using the 260g AccuBonds. These shot better with upper loads from "High Power Rifle Accuracy" (Arnold arms) data using IMR4064. 72.7g gave good accuracy with no signs of too much pressure. Shot 'em here on the gulf coast in the 90's so should be safe where ever I go. My focus is a Nilgai hunt this fall. Est velocity is 2800-2850fps so ought to do the trick as far as I feel comfortable shooting.

Like I said they shot good (1.5" @ 100yds) but 'great" so back to reloading bench. Next to try adjusting seating depth as these were basically seated so cannelure is 1/2 in at cases trimmed to 2.840". Figured to take them out 0.020" +/-. Well forget it with this slug in my rifle as is way too long. It is close to 1/4" too long @ 0.020" to fit in magazine. Bore has less than 150 rounds thru it so throat is fine.

My dilemma and one I find with Nosler BT's in many of my rifles is that the OAL when getting close to lands then they won't fit in magazine.

Am I the only one with this problems with Noslers?

This is not a problem with just Noslers. Many bullets will have the same issue. I would not worry about how far off the lands the bullet is but concentrate on 100% reliability. Groups in the 1.5 range will work just fine for shooting anything larger than prairie dogs at 300 yards.

about the same results I got with the accubonds, I shot a cow elk at 300 yards with one, never found the bullet or exit wound. Damage was server.

Barnes TSX were good for .5 moa out to 300 or so.
I gave up on accubonds in my 375.

I like Accubonds! I've used Partitions since the Mid 1950's and Noslers get it done.
My 375 H&H and 9.3s like the Accubonds!

Several forum members have had great success with Accubonds on plains game hunts.

They will probably work, but I know a Nosler partition will...for an expensive hunt I think everyone should use the best super premium bullet available, it is cheap insureance..

I have seen hunts ruined by bullet failure, is it worth the risk? that's is entirely up you you.

Rusty; what load are you using with your 375?

Ray, we will be hunting Nilgai so I think a 260gr Accubond ought to be tough enough for this application. Of course I don't want to risk poor shooting but this is not an expensive hunt.

Forget about loading to the lands.....get over it....it's way overvalued!!!

Lad the 260 accubonds to fit the magazine and be easy to chamber and go shoot all the plains game you want. It's a great plains game bullet.

Pete,
My loads are probably too wussy for you. I use
68 grains of IMR 4350 Fed 215 Match primers for around 2450. 70 grains of RL-19 for about the same velocity.

Rusty; no call of wussy as long as you don't call me "lad".

Seems the 375 is similar to 30-06 in powders it works well with. With that said it would seem for your bit milder loads that a IMR4895 or 4064 would give bit better results. My own results with IMR4350 & RL-19 in the aforementioned '06 is lower accuracy as the volume of the case left unfilled. However with the bit faster powders seem ok with some space.

Looking at the high BC of the 260g Accubond would indicate you bit slower loads may still give the results I need. Probably get much longer case & shoulder life as an added benifit. Honestly we won't be shooting past 150-200yds max anyway.

Have a friend's SS700 in 375 h&h. It has the synthetic stock with grey grip panels. W/O scope it weighs just barely 6.5 lbs (he shoots w/o scope). Not shot it yet but he has mentioned wanting a load that 'kicks' less but that he could use here in Texas. Heck my own M70 weighs in at 9.5lb w/scope. Seems like your loads may have real merit for this application.

Guess best choice is load a few then shoot 'em. Pretty simple, another reason to shoot more.

You don't have to be the best shot....Just the last shot.
