i posted this question else where and am trying to get some opinions. i am putting a rifle together for a customer. the banded front sight and banded swivel are installed. i have also installed a quarter rib. i want to mill a slot and put in a standing v before i finish the top surface. he is having me install the brockman peep sight option in talley bases. he wants me to leave the rib bare, which does look neat, but those little screws in the sight seem to be a temtation to mr. murphy. thanks all for your thoughts. max

Max, How about using hex screws and then turning small "buttons" of steel/ivory/wood with a shank to fit the hex socket that could be pressed into and over the screw even with the top of the rib?

How about using a screw with a normal slot ,but sitting a bit higher. Then once it is nice and tight ,file the tops of the screws ,taking away the slots. Then a bit of scroll engraving around the screw areas ,will hide the evidence of screws? It is what I was hoping to do with mine. Sympathy please ,I have champagne tastes and beer budget

What cr500 proposes gives good results and will prevent any unwanted movement or backing out of the screws
