Folks I am wanting to rebuild my .585 Nyati my current one has a 25" barrel. I have a liking for short barrels of late and am wondering how much speed would be lost with a 20" .585 Nyati barrel. Any reason not too ?

I put a 20" pipe on my 600 as I prefer short-fast hunting rifles for carry & handling. Some will depend on if you're more of a shooter or hunter. I've found it's not so concerning for velocity as it is for noise & blast. That 20" barrel will grab your attention when fired off. Thus many like the longer barrel for shooting. I get 2100+- from my standard 900grn load when others with 24-26" barrels might see 2200+. Honest power factor difference----nothing
