I sent the guy an e-mail asking if 1000 was reserve too, cause I am sure I could find a way to get a grand fast. :-) Rifle looks first rate and I love that action, 1917 made better. Just thougth some of you might like to see it.

We just went through this earlier this month on this forum I believe as this is just a relisting of the same rifle. I believe his reserve was $7500 or something like that. A search should find it. I think RayA put a decent bid in on it. Seller also had a .505 Gibbs listed. Same seller has had some very nice rifles over the last year or two. I seem to remember another 500J on an Enfield.
Never know though, maybe he's softened up some...Good luck to ya' JP
Yep, that is cool, but it will take some bucks to pry that one loose.
The load on the barrel is 110 grains of RL-15 with a 535 grain bullet.
In the 500 A-Square, 110 grains of RL-15 will push a 570 grain bullet to 2400 fps.
I suspect that the slightly larger case and lighter bullet in the 500 Jeffery with 110 grains of RL-15 is likely to get 2400 fps also. Seems to be a popular velocity for a big bore.

THat is a very good rifle and IMHO worth every last penny of $7500. It's a real Jeffery, built on a Model 30 Action, and well done at that! I've seen much much worse go for double that! You had better move fast or I will!-Rob
I would prefer the 570 grainer at 2150, of the two listed loads, for likely better penetration yet pleasant shootability, with a hole that is big enough at entrance.
But, I would prefer 570 grains at 2300 to 2400 fps even better, with the right bullet construction, for increased whomp.
I believe Nickudu has the ultimate in power and portability with his 10 pound, field ready .505 Gibbs. He throws 570 grains at about 2350 fps, eh?
A 500 NE is not too shabby either.

Perhaps it is due to relatively limited field use, but I've never seen documented complaints about the 500 Jeffrey's 535 gr bullets lacking penetration, or being marginal on game.
Still, I think the 570 gr XLC is a baaaad boolit, and figure at 2200 fps, should put some serious wump on any critter. Now if I could just get around to stocking mine and working up some loads.
Hey Jeff, any word from Dieter on the brass?

Paul, I haven't got an update from Dieter in a couple weeks. Last time he said end of june-ish... and we are close to the end of june... I HOPE to get it mid july, and then touch base with everyone and make sure I have your shipping address (people move) and we'll get it out.
Ray- you make a good point. I was wondering about that load data on the barrel also. I know Jeffery did make 500's on Model 30 actions. If this is a "new" one, then it's pretty misleading!-Rob

DagaRon, I have purchased two rifles from this guy this year. One is a custom Mauser 500 Jeffery and the other is a Lancaster 450/400. This guy is great to deal with. You will have no problems dealing with him.
