I just ordered a box of Buffalo Bore 375 H&H mag. The load is their 270 gr TSX at 2750fps. I wondered if anyone has any experience with this particular loading and what might to expect. I'm feeding these to a CZ 550 American Safari w/ Leupold vx-3i 2.5x8.

Well, I hand load the .375H&H with a 270 gr TSX at about the same velocity maybe a twitch more or less depending in the powder lot I'm using. The book max load calls for 270 gr TSX at just over 2800 FPS.

So I guess you can expect a 270 gr TSX at about 2750 FPS at super inflated Buffalo Bore prices. If the question is about reliability of BB ammo I'd have to say that in several other loadings that I've used from BB they have been consistent and reliable.

That is a virtual duplicate of my load in the 375 Ruger and is my favorite .375 load for everything from moose and caribou to big bears.

So Phil, do you find the TSX's expand reliably? I shoot the 570g TSX's in my 500 Jeffery at 2300 fps, and was thinking of switching over to A-Frames simply from paranoia.

Chuck

Between hogs, deer, elk, moose, caribou and African plains and DG I've shot several hundred head of game with that exact same load. A 270 gr .375H&H leaving muzzle somewhere around 2700 FPS. I've never had one fail to open up even at extremely long ranges for that caliber/ bullet. Several at 400 plus yards.

I can absoloutley recommend the .375 270 gr Barnes TSX.

Should kill any thing you shoot with it and hit in a vital spot.

Some times we make this shooting of game way more complicated then necessary.

Place a decent bullet at decent velocity into a vital area and I have found that they will kill what ever you are shooting.

Jake,

I can't speak to the specific BB LOAD but that velocity with that bullet has given me excellent results on large PG species and my clients have used it on buffalo with equally excellent results. I think it makes A top choice for an all around load in the 375 H&H.

I had some local friend do extensive testing on 250 ttsx and tsx in the 375 for a brown bear hunt. they found that anything above 2000 fps at impact for the tsx and around 1900 for the ttsx would open them. I would bet that a 500 Jeff range you wont' notice the difference.

My 505 Gibbs was built with a .510 barrel and I finally settled on the 570 TSX gave the best penetration by far, yet always seemed to open well.

Thank you gentleman. I as well have seen the bullet do great work on everything up to buffalo. My question was more directed towards the BB brand and how consistent they are. Thank you again.

Ive used the 270 gr. Barnes bullets in the .375, and never found it wanting, nor have I had any bad experiences with the 260 gr. Nosler partition, but when push comes to shove I like the 300 and 350 gr. bullets from Woodleigh for Buffalo, Lion, and such. The Noslers, Swifts, and GS Customs in heavy weight suit me just as well..Lots of good bullets out there today.
