http://www.mtmcase-gard.com/products/rifle/rifl.html "CASE-GARD H-50 Series H-50-XL- I ordered two to try out. I have no doubt that they will work well for my .416 Rigby rounds, but what about a .500/460 Long with BMG bullets (4.75" max OAL)? Soooo here is my question: 1) What is the max OAL that a round can be for this box? 2) What is the diameter of the holes? (Hopeing it will work for my .577 Snider too, but probably not) 3) Have they been working well for those who have them?

I have a couple of these. They work great for my .416 Rigby and .460 Wby in the bullet up position. I tried to slip a .600 nitro in and I just won't go. A .577 nitro shell is a very tight, "forced fit." 4.75" oal will be too long. From my measurments 4.00", mabye a smidge more will be about the longest cartridge you can fit. Mine don't have round holes like the smaller MTM cases but squares. My quick and by no means exact measurments of the holes are .630" x .630" on top tapering to .590" x .590" on the bottom.

I read somewhere that the way to do this for the big shells was to use one of the MTM double-decker 20-gauge shotgun shell carrier boxes and take one tray out? I haven't tried this yet. I wonder what the 50 BMG target shooters are using?
