I am thinking of rechambering to this caliber, due to availability of a reamer. Does anyone have experience with this cartridge, and could you give me an idea of its potential ? It sounds like it could be a real stemwinder.

Good luck and good shooting

Generally speaking, it's not so wise an idea, though the performance of any of the longer 8mms is okay.
To know more, see the two long and animated threads in the "gunsmithing" board, with a lot of info:

Well, not trying to start any more fires, but I have one and I'm very pleased with it. Brass is easy to get and form, performance is a bit better than the 30-06 AI. This is because you can generally move heavier bullets at higher speeds. A little more frontal area doesn't hurt either. I think it is a great cartridge, as wildcats go, and think you'll be very pleased with it. FWIW - Dan
