Doug Turnbull475 Barnes bullets
If there is any one there that wants me to send out about 10 each of the 400 TSX and 400 Solids FREE. I would like to get some feed back as to how they might be working in your guns.
Doug
I tend to use more than enough gun.

Doug how are these bullets configured! I assume they are mono-metal bullets, and the reason I'm asking is, My use would be in a double rifle, and unless the bullets are made similar to the North Fork, or Gs Custom, with the so-called pressure rings so the displaced metal has a place to go durring engraveing, then it is not suitable for double rifle use!
It would be silly for me to accept your free bullets unless I could use them to give you feed back on their use in my rifle! I would be enterested in seeing pictures, of these bullets, however! If they are useful to me, I'd be happy to buy them from you, and see how they work in my rifle, and report back to you!

FumblerMr Turnbull,
What kind of feedback are you looking for?
Accuracy? Terminal performance?
475 Turnbull only, or any 475 cal cartridge?
I have a Ruger Super Redhawk in 480 Ruger and would like to try them out if I could give you any useful info.
With the SRH I'm limited to a cartridge overall length of 1.8"
325gr Gold Dot Softpoints loaded in 480 Ruger are ~1.635"
With that bullet the cannelure to the nose is around 0.355", so at the most those bullets can be 0.165" longer ahead of the cannelure than the Gold Dots, or a max of 0.500" from the tip to the cannelure.
So...if those bullets would fit then I'd be glad to load and shoot them.
But then again I don't know where I'd even start for a powder charge when the case capacity is reduced with those long monometals...
What do you think?

Doug TurnbullAny feed back will be great as I know this is not just a Turnbull bullet but one that can be used in amny other 470 cartridges. The 350 TSX in the 480 might work but why not try. Ther nose to cannalure is .500" Accuracy, terminal performance, pressure differences from other manufacturers info is always good to have..
I tend to use more than enough gun.

gumboot458. As I don,t have a .475 yet I can,t use them . but my use would be in a .475 Linebaugh revolver and the solid would be of great interest to me ... @ 1400 fps it should be a good load , most of the revolver shooters are somewhat stuck on their lead bullets ,, I,m not !!
I would very much like to see Barnes make their XPB so they didn,t open up like they do , and in heavier weights I would like to see them in a cup point ......
If they were available in a spitzer , it would be a good reason to build a 470 Capstick ......
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

I could maybe help you out with the terminal performace if I can get them loaded up before deer season ends.
Maybe I'll take a white tail with it and after its dead I could shoot it end to end with another shot. The I could dig out the bullet...cause I probably won't find the bullet that kills it

That'd give you some info on penetration and expansion at point blank 480 Ruger velocities.
With the 0.50" nose It'd probably work with a few thousandths to spare.
Want to send me a few bullets?

Got your care package today, thanks.
I will work up some loads over the holidays.
I may get to test them on some live animals, pigs.
Depending on my knee mobility after surgery. (Dec 11).
Thanks Again.
Hope to give you some feedback soon.

PeterDoug, if these would work in a 475 Linebaugh I would like to try some.
