Interesting.. define LONG RANGE.. define .416 whole being a problem (heh.. just a stab at .308 and .338 fans... that's a 1.5 caliber STARTING hole" A 416 aint meant to whack muskrats at 400 yards.. the hornady is a BOMB at 50 yards... 400 gr sp, if that's what's he's comparing it to, then yeah, nothing will open up that much. 200 yards, starts at 2700 fps... what could you ask for, from the 350? jeffe

I have taken Buffalo and Plains Game with the 350 grain Swift A Frame in a 416 Rem Mag with great results. On a Wildebeast cull hunt, some were taken at over 250 yards. I will try to post some pics showing expansion when I get home.

Thanks to both of you! jeffe, I guess 200 yards is long range using a 416. My experience is that the 400 grs Hornady SP definitely is not a bomb at any range. At least not in my Taylor at 2330 f/sec. Thats why I\m looking around for some other bullet, and the reason for my question about 350 grs Swift. If the 400 grs Hornady is too soft at 50 150 yards, then Ive missed completely baying the Swift bullet. Jim; interesting information about the 350 grs Swift. Ill wait for your pics.

The two on the right are a 416 Rem Mag 350 gr. Swift A Frame. The two on the left are a 470 NE 500 gr. Woodleigh soft and solid. Third from the left is from the off shoulder of a Buff at 110 yds. The far right is from Wildebeast taken head on at 250 yds. The two on the left are from a Buff at 70 yds. The soft was shot head on, removed from a very full stomach.
