Red,

Sorry, been busy with my new career and don't check here as much as I used to.

Here's my 416 Taylor in the factory wood Winchester stock. It's a M70 Classic (originally a 300 Win Mag) Douglas 23' barrel, NECG iron sights, Gentry? barrel band front swivel, and Leupold 2.5-8x Vari-XIII...

Switched to a factory Winchester plastic stock, and Leupold QR rings added...

Close up view, she's not pretty, bit she's a great 'skiff gun' here in S.E. Alaska...

BTW, it's a left-handed model, the pictures are not reversed.

Here's a picture of a 458WM case as it's worked into a 416 Taylor loaded with 400gr Nosler Partitions (which did not shoot well in this rifle.)

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, this is starting to really get good. Canuck, all pics are welcome, cause they're all Taylor's. I like hearing about what you guys had done on them and some of the reasoning. I don't see a problem with that Alaskan "skiff gun". After I get all the guns I want in the blue I plan on getting a boat so that I can tell the wife I need a bunch in stainless with synthetic stock. :-)

What kind of velocities are you getting with the 20" barrel?

How do you all feel with the recoil, what weight are your guns and would you recommend a rifle more in the 10lb. range or would lighter be all right. (with scope).

thanks all.

I don't personally own a 416 Taylor, but a friend of mine has one on a- are you ready for this- a 16" TC Encore handgun . He had it built by SSK, and with the fishgill arrestor, it is not that bad to shoot. He's planning on putting it to good use next year for a cape buff.

Thta may backfire, and you'll never get the stainless rifles, as boats suck up extra money like black holes devour matter and light.

Fireformed 458 brass loaded with 400gr Hornady RN's...

...note the cannule difference as both bullets are seated to the same C.O.L. There's two different versions of that bullet out there. No big deal, as I rarely crimp anyhow.
