This may be old news, but I was on another forum this morning and they posted a list from Hornady of products that they have suspended production on for 2013. The reason I bring this up is that there were several big bore bullets and ammo on the list including 404 ammo and bullets. Don't want to start another hoarding frenzy, but just a heads up. There is also a youtube video by Steve Hornady explaining the reasoning. He assures us that it is only temporary.

Mike, I can't find anything on the Hornady site about this. Could you post the link to the video? Well --- I was a big xtp fan. I guess I'll need to find a new company. I do have a good stock, however I do not like the business decision that they will concentrate on what makes them the most money quickest. Certainly, a decision up to them, but I like to do load development 1 time and stay with what works. I will not be buying anymore product from them of any kind.

There are lots of XTPs included on the production list, the 300gr .430" is missing tho, that's one I thought would have been a popular one. http://www.hornady.com/support...lity/production-list

Looks like they are still making one 404 Jeffery bullet in 2013: 423 CAL .423 400 GR DGS® All is not lost. Most of us have hoarded and are used to waiting 2 years between runs. And Remington has expanded their ammo production with a 32-million-dollar addition to Lonoke, Arkansas plant? BTW, Rusty Mcgee, Gunsmith, aka member roughone here used to work at Reminton R&D. Remington struggled with getting 3 different power levels of factory loads for the 300 RUM. It was Rusty's idea to use AA-5744 powder in the 300 RUM cartridge to produce the lower power levels in that cartridge, just a suggestion in passing by him to another engineer there. It worked well in testing. AA-5744 for 30-06 power level, and AA-5744 for 300 WinMag power level from 300 RUM. And he did not even get a tee shirt for the idea.
