I haven't posted much here, but try to read as much as I can, when I can. There's not a lot of information about the 416 Ruger and its speed potential on-line and I was wondering if 2650fps was a realistic possibility or waaaay above max pressures. I've seen 2550-2600fps mentioned here and there, but no real data. I figure 2700fps is definately out of line so, I'm just curious what you folks think the most realistic velocity max would be when it comes to the 416 Ruger out of the 20" Alaskan. How about the 300gr TSX? If you'd like to pm any load information you've tried, I'd appreciate it. Thank You in Advance, Mike PS - I'm usually a slow and heavy guy , but I'm shooting for 2450-2550 with the 350 grainers out of mine. Just got curious if anyone has played with higher velocities.

Every barrel is a little different. 2550-2600 fps looks reasonable for a 20" barrel 416Ruger, 2650 less likely. I'm a Rigby person, myself, so others will need to help. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

THANKS Tanzan! Did a little more surfing and found a poster on another forum who had Safari Arms load up some 350gr TSX to 2650fps for him, but he hasn't been able to replicate that velocity with the powders he's tried, so they may be using a blended powder or some secret squirrel propellent. I appreciate the reply! Thanks and Take Care, Mike
