Posted this in reloading. Thought I'd post it here too. I'm loading Barnes 300gr. TSX and 300 gr. Banded solids in my .375 H&H cz550. Barnes instructions say to load them .03" - .07" off the lands. My O.A.L. gauge shows the TSX touches the lands at 3.812" and the solid touches at 3.82". Per Barnes recommendation I've loaded the TSX to 3.75" and the solid to 3.76". However, my loading manuals tell me max C.O.A.L. 3.6". Am I OK loading beyond 3.6"? I've tried the longer cartridges in my magazine and they load and feed just fine. Does the long cz550 magnum action allow me longer C.O.A.L.? Tanzania in 2006! Had 141 posts on prior forum as citori3.

I sure don't see any problem with what you are doing. The book gives and overall length and there does have a to be a standard I guess, But each rifle is chamberd a little differently and as long as you are not jamming the bullet up into the lands you should be just fine. Let me know haw the barmes bullets shoot for you ...tj3006 freedom1st

As long as you're not in the lands and they cycle through your gun, you're fine. I've found the load that my gun likes with the Barnes 300 TSX at .060" off the lands so I'm going to vary the OAL in .005" increments to fine tune it.
