Anybody have any experience with this? My thoughts are its similar to the 416 Taylor, only with a slightly different bullet diameter, and a sharper shoulder. Is this just an obsure wildcat?

The 404 BJ Express (Barnes Johnson) as I recall was a blown out 375 case with a improved shoulder and full length as I recall but ???..It is not a .423 caliber, rather .411 caliber and tossed a 400 gr. bullet at 2425 FPS with a max/hot load...Nothing at all to offer over the standard 404 or 416 Rem. I traded for one years ago and shot it a little and traded it for something else...Bullets were scarce back then and still not all that available..Woodleighs Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Ray, Didn't Andy Runyan use one of these? No .411 caliber bullets doesn't interest me.

for anything between the .375 and 458 it's very difficult to justify anything other than the 416....just don't make any sense to do a 423 or 411

Now I conceed that the .416 stuff s a lot easier to get. I want a .423 and a .416 while a lot more practicle isn't a 404. Need has absolutly no bearing on this choice. I have half assed justified this as a caliber for bear, and once I get a 404 built I might give Ray A about a buffalo hunt.
