How should I set-up my new 416 Taylor?
Hey George you going to lock this one up too?
Sweat on the tallest front site base that you can find with a 3/8" warthog ivory bead. Then insert it sideways into your anal orifice.

ElCaballeroI'll play!
How is your 500 A square set up? Or the 458? What do you like or dislike about them? Start there and add or subtract.
In fact why don't you post some pictures of them and we can talk about the options you have chosen for them.
If you don't have a digital camera take them with a conventional one and have the local Wal-mart put them on a disc.

ScottSElCaballero,
So your suggestions are:
1.) A quarter rib with two flip ups, barrel banded front sling, and a barrel banded front sight without hood (as that is how the 500 A^2 set-up)
2.) An island rear sight with one flip up, ramp sling mount, and ramp front sight with hood (that is the Win Super Grade M70 post 64 458 Win mag was set-up as I recall. Sold it about 7 years ago).
3.) An island rear sight with one fixed, a banded sling, and a banded front sight with hood (that is how I had the other 458 Win mag set-up, which was a VZ24 sold about 10 or 11 years ago).
So which would be your preference, since you have provided me with three options and I need only one.

No, I said you should take what you had experience with and use what you like and discard what you did not.

ScottSElCaballero,
Yes you did please I am sorry for misreading your earlier post. However, of the three set-ups I previously posted which would be your preference?

The MetalsmithAttach the barrel by using a press fit! Than smack yourself. Use Lock tight and a dremel tool to attach the quarter rib and barrel bands. Smack yourself again. Make sure you remove the extractor from your rifle, as they are optional by Remington. Who needs them anyways huh?! Especially with your awesome handloads! Smack yourself again just for good measure. Use laminated particle board for your stock, ensure that it's made just like the racy lines of a weatherby. Oh and attach triple picatinny rails just in case you come upon a tactical situation with armored deer! I'm sure you've seen those huh? Please post pics before you fire it and after. Than shove the aftermath in your ass. Than smack yourself one last time just to be safe.

Idaho Sharpshooterpersonally, I think we need to start a plastiotomy* fund for scotts. That's the one where they cut the front off of your abdomen and place a 10" square piece of clear surgical polyurethane in.
As far as the mythical DGR, put a quarterrib with four leaves and a hooded ramp on the left side of the barrel. That will allow scotts to see the side sights under his normal position...with his head up his ass.

RobgunbuilderScott- Remember this formula:
1. Lube the .416 taylor round thoroughly.
2. Insert in your anal cavity ( leave primer end exposed and available for the next step.
3. Light propane torch
4. Apply flame to primer!
5. Kiss your ass goodby!
6. Send us the Video!

ElCaballeroI like set up number one the best. Except I would want a removable hood on the front sight.

RobgunbuilderJust so everybody is aware of the purpose of this post by Scott/ Axel/ Judy POSEUR and my all time favorite- Ass CLOWN etc..
1. Scott made this post to stir up a good portion of scorn by the forum members based on a seemingly innoculous request for advice..
2. He will now initiate one of his famous retribution efforts that he hopes will consume the forum members
3. He will have a patented "meltdown".
4. He will assume more "identities"
5 He will ask if we want him to "leave forever"
6. he will go dormant for 6-months to a year. In the hopes enough people who recognize him will leave.
&. He will resurface again.
Scott has used this formula many times before. Unfortunately it seems to work again and again.-Rob

I'd go with an island rear adjustable sight, a barrel band sling swivel and a barrel band front ramp, without hood (both NECG Masterpiece sights, Classic sling swivel).
Oh wait a minute, I did do that.

Cheers,
Canuck

ScottSCanuck,
Thanks for the information. I hadn't thought too hard about the benefits of the adjusted rear, but there are definitely tangible benefits too it. The more I think about the more I like your rifle's set-up and I think I will go that route. Thanks again.
